THE EARL OF TANKERVILLE

asked His Majesty's Government what proportion of the total securities representing the national and local government outstanding debt is held, either directly or indirectly, by banks and insurance companies, and the present market value (not book value) of the securities so held; also what is the total amount of the subscriptions which have been made by cheque-money by the Bank of England, joint stock banks and insurance companies to new issues of all descriptions since 1914.
