Mr. Davidsonasked the Minister of Labour the total number of persons defined as seasonal workers who failed to qualify for unemployment benefit in Glasgow for the years 1936 and 1937, respectively?
§ Mr. E. Brown, pursuant to his reply (OFFICIAL REPORT, 3rd March, 1938; col. 1261, Vol. 332) supplied the following statement
During the year 1936, 175 claims to benefit made at Employment Exchanges in Glasgow were disallowed by Courts of Referees under the Anomalies (Seasonal Workers) Order; the corresponding figure for 1937 was 149. These figures may include some cases in which the claimants concerned resided outside Glasgow. The figures relate to claims disallowed; the number of separate individuals concerned is not available.
