Mr. Davidsonasked the Minister of Labour whether he will state the total number of persons refused benefit, being defined as seasonal workers, for the years 1937 and 1938, respectively?
§ Mr. E. BrownDuring the year 1937, 10,962 claims to benefit made at Employment Exchanges in Great Britain were disallowed by Courts of Referees under the Anomalies (Seasonal Workers) Order; for the first five months of 1938 the corresponding figure was 2,514. The figures relate to claims, and the numbers of separate individuals concerned are not known.
