Mr. Harveyasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will state the composition of the committee appointed by the Governor of Kenya Colony to inquire into the conditions of child labour in the Colony, and the terms of reference of the committee?
Mr. M. MacDonaldI have not yet been informed by the Governor of the composition of this committee, nor of its precise terms of reference. The purpose for which the committee is being appointed is, however, to review and report upon the question of child labour in Kenya, particularly as regards the minimum age and the application of penal sanctions for the enforcement of contracts entered into by juveniles.
