HC Deb 16 June 1938 vol 337 c413W
Mr. David Adams

asked the Minister of Health (1) whether he can state the result of his inquiries into the question of the nuisance arising from the burning pit-heap at Craghead, county Durham;

(2) what action he proposes as a result of the inspection recently of the burning pit-heap at Cragside, county Durham, by one of the Ministry's alkali inspectors?

Mr. Elliot

My inspector reports that certain remedial measures taken by the colliery company during the last three months have effected some improvement. The company are considering the practicability of adopting measures for further improvement on lines discussed with the inspector, who is keeping in close touch with the company in the matter.
