Sir W. Jenkins

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education what grants have been paid to the local education authorities in the distressed areas of South Wales from 1930 to 1937, giving each authority and years separately; and what is the reduction in the number of children attending elementary schools?

ELEMENTARY EDUCATION.
Board of Education Grants to Distressed Areas in South Wales, 1929–30 to 1936–37, together with the decline in the number of children on the registers of Public Elementary Schools in the same period.
NOTE.—The "distressed areas" shown are all the Local Education Authorities in South Wales whose areas are wholly or partly Special Areas as defined in the First Schedule to the Special Areas (Development and Improvement) Act, 1934.
