Mr. De la Bèreasked the Attorney-General what further steps the Government are taking to ensure that justices of the peace disabled by ill-health or transfer of residence from carrying out their duties should retire from the bench?
§ The Attorney-GeneralNo further steps are in contemplation because my Noble Friend, the Lord Chancellor, is confident that when the suggestions put forward in his circular letter of 1st January have received the mature consideration both of individual magistrates and bodies of magistrates assembled for the purpose, there will be an adequate response to these suggestions.
