HC Deb 09 February 1938 vol 331 c1074W
Sir R. Young

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty how many men were enlisted for the Royal Navy on an average each month during 1935, 1936, and 1937; and how many of these at each recruiting station?

Mr. Cooper

Excluding recruits entered as a result of competitive examination, the average numbers recruited monthly during the financial years 1935, 1936 and 1937 are:

1935 624
1936 871
1937 (to 31st December 1937) 1,154

I am sending the hon. Member a table of figures containing the reply to the last part of his question.
