HC Deb 09 February 1938 vol 331 cc1067-8W
Lieut.-Commander Fletcher

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what complaints have been received from any sections of the aircraft manufacturing industry of delays or complications or unnecessary expense involved in the placing and completion of orders due to departmental procedure at the Air Ministry?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

In the course of carrying out the present programme there has naturally been close collaboration and frequent conversations between members of the aircraft industry and officers of the Air Ministry, in the course of which points concerning organisation and procedure on both sides have not infrequently been raised, and both sides, I think, have welcomed the opportunity afforded.

Mr. Pilkington

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air when he expects the Speke aircraft shadow factory will begin production?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

It is not yet possible to give a definite date.
