Sueterasked the Attorney-General whether he will prepare schemes for extending the areas over which the Land Registry works so as to provide black-coat employment in times of recession of trade and at the same time give 419W service which is of considerable value to the public without the cost falling upon the taxpayer?
§ The Attorney-GeneralOn 24th November last my hon. and learned Friend endeavoured to explain, in answer to a question by my hon. and gallant Friend, the principles applicable to the question of the extension of the compulsory registration of land on sale, so far as it was possible to do so within the limits of a Parliamentary question. I can only refer him to the answer which my hon. and learned Friend then gave and reassure him that there is no unnecessary delay in extending the provisions of the Act when this is practicable. I might add that the amount of employment involved would I am afraid in any case be very small.
