asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the amount of compensation to be paid by the Japanese Government in respect of killed and injured British soldiers and sailors?

Yes, Sir. The Japanese Government have been asked, and have agreed, to pay the sum of £1,500 to cover the amount of compensation in respect of those British soldiers killed and wounded at Shanghai. The compensation to be claimed in respect of the naval ratings killed and injured amounts to approximately £920.
