§ Mr. Sutcliffeasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he can state the present approximate aggregate amount of the Board's liability in respect of guarantees under the Export Credit Guarantees Act; and what proportion of this sum is in respect of guarantees given in respect of the sale of cotton textile goods?
§ Mr. R. S. HudsonAt 30th September, 1938, the aggregate liability outstanding in respect of guarantees given under the Export Guarantees Act and enactments repealed by that Act was approximately £20,000,000. It is not the practice to state the amount of the Department's commitments in respect of any particular trade or industry, although, as my right hon. Friend stated on 15th December, the cotton textile trade is one of the biggest customers of the Export Guarantees Department.
