§ THE FIRST LORD OF THE ADMIRALTY (EARL STANHOPE)The majority of the locally engaged employees of the Air Ministry in Egypt and the Sudan, Palestine and Iraq are industrials engaged at various stations in the Commands, and it would, I regret, not be possible without considerable labour to give particulars of their precise employment and nationalities. The total numbers of these industrials for the different Commands are approximately as follows:—Egypt and the Sudan, 1,800; Palestine, 250; Iraq, 3,200.
There are in addition a number of locally engaged non-industrials mainly employed as clerks, typists, interpreters, draughtsmen, foremen of works, surveyors' 667WA clerks, clerks of works, or assistant examiners, the numbers of British and non-British nationality being as follows:
