§ Mr. Rhys Daviesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will take steps to make it clear that the statement contained in his despatch to the High Commissioner for Palestine of 10th March, 1938, that the declared object of the policy of His Majesty's Government, as set out in the White Paper of July last, was a scheme of partition under which Jewish immigration would be confined to a limited area, should be qualified by reference to the clear intention of that White Paper to promote the establishment of an independent Jewish State in Palestine; and if he will indicate whether the policy of that White Paper still stands?
