Mr. De la Bèreasked the Postmaster-General whether he will reconsider the practice of charging £4 a year for five years to parish councils for the installation of telephone kiosks in villages without a post office, in view of the fact that villages without a post office particularly need telephone kiosks and that the charge is a somewhat onerous one to small villages?
§ Sir W. WomersleyAs I pointed out in answer to my hon. Friend's question of the 31st March,£4 a year represents only a small contribution towards the loss involved; and I regret that under present conditions I am unable to reduce the charge.
