§ Sir R. Blairasked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been directed to the recent increase of overcrowding on the Edgware and Morden tube, particularly between Golders Green Station and the West End, and that the time-table has been altered and trains are less frequent; and will he make representations to improve such conditions, especially at the rush hours?
§ Mr. BurginI am informed by the London Passenger Transport Board that the service from Golders Green to the West End was recently increased during the morning peak hours by two trains. Compared with last winter, this service shows a total increase of four trains, and the service from Edgware an increase of two trains. As regards the number of trains, this line is now worked to its full capacity. The board are not aware that there has been any general increase of the overcrowding which exists during certain hours owing to the fact that the majority of passengers travel at about the same time in the morning and evening.
