1054W
§ Mr. Petherickasked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether the Government of Southern Rhodesia has been consulted in respect of any modification of the Imperial preferences on tobacco in the proposed trade treaty with the United States of America?
Marquess of HartingtonI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade to the hon. Member for Bassetlaw (Mr. Bellenger) on 13th July. As then explained, the general position was discussed with the representatives of Southern Rhodesia in the summer. My hon. Friend can rest assured that there is no danger of the interests of Southern Rhodesia being overlooked if questions affecting them should be raised in the course of the trade negotiations with the United States of America which are now contemplated.
