HC Deb 16 November 1937 vol 329 cc240-2W
Mr. Leonard

asked the Postmaster-General whether any arrangements have yet been made for television broadcast in Scotland; and whether such broadcasts can be made from Scottish centres of the British Broadcasting Corporation or from London?

Sir W. Womersley

It is one of the duties of the Television Advisory Committee, under the chairmanship of Lord Selsdon, to plan the development of the television service. The question of the establishment of one or more stations to provide television broadcast programmes in areas beyond the range of the existing London station is reviewed from time to time by the committee; but I understand that further experience of the working of the London station will be necessary before the committee will be in a position to make definite recommendations on the subject.
