Captain A. Evansasked the Minister of Health the number of houses required for the relief of overcrowding in the different centres of Wales?
§ Sir K. WoodFull particulars of the number of houses found to be overcrowded in each district are contained in the report on the Overcrowding Survey in England and Wales which was published last year. Experience shows that overcrowding is abated by a better distribution of existing houses as well as by the building of new houses and it is not possible to say at this stage what total number of new houses will be needed to secure the abatement of overcrowding, but an approximate estimate would be 12,000.
