HC Deb 11 November 1937 vol 328 c1865W
Captain Plugge

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the fact that the Milk Marketing Scheme confers great benefits on the distributing companies, he will investigate the extension of the activities of these bodies to the sale of other miscellaneous articles to the detriment of small competing shopkeepers who do not have any State help in their marketing?

Mr. Stanley

I cannot accept the implication that milk distributing companies receive State help in marketing; and I see no occasion for a special investigation on the lines suggested.
