HC Deb 11 November 1937 vol 328 cc1875-6W
Mr. De la Bère

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can now make a statement regarding the problems relating to foodstuffs in time of war; and can he give some information regarding a new food defence plans department to deal with the formation of plans for the supply, control, and distribution of feeding-stuffs in time of war?

Mr. Stanley

Plans for safeguarding and controlling the supply and distribution of foodstuffs in time of war are being prepared by the Food (Defence Plans) Department of the Board of Trade, in consultation and co-operation with representatives of food importers, manufacturers and distributors. The plans, which cover not only food, but also feeding stuffs for livestock, concern both supply in bulk and distribution to consumers.
