HC Deb 11 November 1937 vol 328 c1879W
Brigadier-General Brown

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the amount of capital classified in the Estate Duty statistics as farming stock has averaged over the last five years; and what was the annual yield of Death Duties thereon?

Sir J. Simon

The capital classified as farming stock coming under charge to Estate Duty has averaged about £2,330,000 per annum in the last five years. The Death Duties paid thereon are not recorded separately but they would amount approximately to £200,000 per annum.
