HC Deb 09 November 1937 vol 328 cc1615-6W
Mr. Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will state the number of police officers serving in the Maryhill division of Glasgow who are over the stipulated retirement age?

Mr. Elliot

I am informed that there is one officer in this division whose length of service qualifies him to retire on the full rate of ordinary pension without medical certificate. Under the Police Pensions Act, 1921, his retirement is not compulsory until he either attains the age of 60 or is required by the police authority to retire on the ground that his retention in the force would not be in the interests of efficiency.
