HC Deb 09 November 1937 vol 328 c1626W
Sir N. Grattan-Doyle

asked the hon. and gallant Member for Rye, as representing the Forestry Commissioners, whether he can make any statement as to the Commissioners' efforts to destroy grey squirrels in the areas supervised by the Forestry Commission and by adjacent public and private landowners?

Sir G. Courthope

Grey squirrels are being systematically killed in Forestry Commission areas. Over 1,500 were destroyed in the last 12 months. The Commissioners have no first-hand information as to what is happening in adjacent areas.
