HC Deb 04 November 1937 vol 328 c1131W
Mr. Assheton

asked the Minister of Health (1) whether he is aware of the distracting noise made by pneumatic drills and hammers in demolition and reconstruction work and in the roads; and whether he will take steps to see that silencers are affixed to all such apparatus;

(2) whether he will take steps to control the use of pneumatic drills and hammers in reconstruction or demolition work in residential areas?

Sir K. Wood

I am, of course, aware that the noise made by pneumatic drills has on occasion given rise to complaints, but I have no powers which would enable me to take the action which my hon. Friend recommends.
