HC Deb 04 November 1937 vol 328 c1140W
Colonel Wedgwood

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give the latest published figures for the value or weight of the gold held by the Exchange Equalisation Account both sterilised and in use by the Bank of England; the latest comparable figures for the United States of America; and when the next figures will be published by him and as at what date?

Sir J. Simon

In reply to the first part of the question, I would refer the right hon. Gentleman to the figures which I gave for the end of March, 1937, on 28th June in the Debate on the Money Resolution in connection with the Exchange Equalisation Account Act, 1937. In reply to the second part, I would refer him to the reply which I gave him on 13th July. As regards the third part, the next figures will, as I said in the Debate on the Money Resolution, relate to the end of September and be published at the end of December.
