HC Deb 04 November 1937 vol 328 c1139W
Mr. Mathers

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he will cause the owners of the four licensed distilleries at Rothes, Morayshire, to carry out their obligation to provide suitable houses for the revenue officers who survey these distilleries, in view of the shortage of suitable houses in Rothes, which is not now a market town?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

I am aware that Rothes is no longer regarded as a market town but I am satisfied that in the existing circumstances the Crown would not be justified in requiring the distillers to provide houses for the local Officers of Customs and Excise.
