HC Deb 03 November 1937 vol 328 cc930-1W
Captain A. Evans

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been called to the fact that the development of light industries in South Wales has been seriously hampered by the absence of good road-transport facilities; and whether, with a view to reducing congestion in the Greater London area, which is becoming increasingly serious through the continual erection of new factories, he will arrange for particular attention to be paid in the near future to road facilities in South Wales?

Mr. Burgin

I must not be taken as in any way accepting the assumption on which this question is based. So far as trunk roads are concerned I would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to the answer I gave on 21st October to the hon. Member for Pontypool (Mr. A. Jenkins). For improvements on other roads I am prepared to consider any application the responsible highway authorities may make.
