HC Deb 24 May 1937 vol 324 cc26-7W
Mr. Whiteley

asked the Secretary of Mines whether he is aware that a new weighing machine has been installed at Swalwell Colliery, County Durham, without a cabin being built to protect it from dust and without a seat; and will he have inquiries made with a view to these matters receiving attention?

Captain Crookshank

I have made inquiry, and I am informed that, while there is no cabin, the machine is protected by corrugated sheets, and that a permanent seat is to be provided at once. I understand that as the result of the arrangements for weighing, very little time is spent at the machine.
