HC Deb 04 May 1937 vol 323 c992W
Mr. M. MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware of the fact that the Park Deer Forest, in the Island of Lewis, is part of the finest arable land in the island; and whether, in view of that fact, the Department of Agriculture has considered securing the estate in order to settle some of the many people waiting for small holdings?

Mr. Elliot

I am advised that the forest referred to is not suitable for new holdings. The second part of the question does not therefore arise.
