HC Deb 24 March 1937 vol 321 c2930W
Mr. De Chair

asked the Home Secretary whether he will consider the practicability of enlisting the co-operation of local cycling clubs, such as the South-West Norfolk Cycling Club, for purposes of carrying messages and maintaining communications, when these have broken down, in the event of an air raid?

Mr. Lloyd

Local authorities are expected to organise emergency communication arrangements as part of their scheme of air raid precautions; and I would suggest that a cycling club which is prepared to assist should offer the services of its members to the local authority.
