HC Deb 17 March 1937 vol 321 cc2083-4W
Mr. Maclean

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any ore from the Rio Tinto mines has been sent to Germany or Italy within the last three months; and, if so, whether he can state the quantities and the estimated money value of such consignments?

Captain Wallace

I am informed that the British owned mines, of which Rio Tinto is one, have sent no iron ore to Germany or Italy in the last three months, or for a long time previously. These mines have, however, continued during the last three months to ship pyrites to the usual customers, including Germany; but I have no information as to the quantities or estimated values of these consignments.
