HC Deb 16 March 1937 vol 321 cc1878-9W
Mr. Goldie

asked the hon. Member for Central Leeds, as representing the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, whether the property in the entrance archway to St. James's Church, Piccadilly, which it is proposed to pull down in connection with the erection of a Coronation stand, is vested in the Ecclesiastical Commissioners; whether such archway is erected upon or forms part of the boundary fence to consecrated land; and whether it is with the approval of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners that such archway is to be destroyed or for a purely temporary purpose?

Mr. Denman

The archway in question is not vested in the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, nor is their consent necessary to its demolition.
