HC Deb 15 March 1937 vol 321 c1664W
Sir W. Smiles

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what compensation, if any, will be paid to the British lighthouse keepers in the Red Sea who are to be compulsorily retired from the service this year?

Viscount Cranborne

I assume that my hon. and gallant Friend is referring to the British lighthouse keepers in the service of the Egyptian Government. These lighthouse keepers are retiring normally at the expiration of their contracts. Consequently the question of compensation does not arise.
