§ Mr. Lyonsasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he can indicate the development of the use of radio in schools to date, showing any difference there may be between London and the provinces?
Mr. LindsaySome indication of the development of the use of radio in schools is given in the figures recently published by the Central Council for School Broadcasting in their pamphlet "Broadcasts to Schools," a copy of which I am sending to the hon. Member. These show that the number of listening schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is 6,466 compared with 4,415 a year ago.40W I regret that it has not been possible to obtain separate figures for London, but I have no reason to think that the rate of increase in London is any different from the rate in the provinces.
