§ Mr. Hore-BelishaIt is too early to measure the effect on recruiting of the improvements in pay and conditions recently announced. The number of recruits enlisted between 1st January and 29th May this year was 10,735 as compared with 10,361, for the corresponding period of 1936, showing an increase in 1937 of 374.
