§ Mr. Joelasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware of the large number of endowment policies issued by companies engaged in industrial assurance which have no cash surrender value; whether such policies are still issued; and, 1598W if so, whether he will investigate their desirability from the public standpoint?
§ Lieut.-Colonel ColvilleI have no information as to the number of endowment policies which have no cash surrender value, but I am aware that the majority carry rights either to a free policy or 1599W to a surrender value. The subject of industrial assurance was fully reviewed by a Committee which reported in 1933, and there does not appear to be any need for a further investigation.
