HC Deb 19 January 1937 vol 319 c42W
Mr. Lyons

asked the Minister of Labour whether he will indicate the course of employment by industries and percentages, respectively, for the city of Leicester for the months of November and December, 1936?

Mr. E. Brown

The available figures relate to the area served by the Leicester Employment Exchange and Juvenile Employment Bureau. The following table shows for this area (a) the numbers of insured persons, aged 16 to 64 years, recorded as unemployed in the principal industries in Leicester at 23rd November, and 14th December, 1936, and (b) these numbers expressed as percentages of the estimated numbers insured at July, 1936:

obtained through the courtesy of Sir Robert Kindersley, the amount of British-owned securities and private investments in New Zealand is £140,000,000. As regards the second part of the question, I have nothing to add at present to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member for Newcastle-on-Tyne, North (Sir N. Grattan-Doyle) on 17th December.
