HC Deb 25 February 1937 vol 320 cc2196-7W
Mr. Johnston

asked the Attorney-General (1) whether he is aware that a firm designated as Spencer, Bradley, and Company, of 32, Gresham Street, London, was peddling shares prior to last July in the Building Construction Investment Company, Limited, whose affairs have been receiving his attention; whether he can give any information as to the present whereabouts of the principals of the firm; and whether he will communicate the correspondence he has received from investors with this firm to the committee of inquiry into share pushing and to the Director of Public Prosecutions with a view to appropriate action being taken;

(2) whether he is aware that a firm designated as Jackson. Bruce, and Company, 26, King Street, London, has been peddling shares in the Building Construction Investment Company, Limited, whose affairs have been receiving his attention; whether Jackson, Bruce, and Company are now at that address; if not, whether they have been traced to any other address; whether he has had additional information supplied to him from unfortunate investors; and whether he is now in a position to say if any action is to be taken in the matter?

The Attorney-General

The matters to which the right hon. Gentleman refers are under investigation by the Director of Public Prosecutions. In these circumstances it would not, I think, be expedient to make any detailed statement. The committee inquiring into share pushing have been and are being supplied with all information likely to assist their inquiries.
