§ Mr. McGovernasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the High Commissioner of Palestine, Sir Arthur Wauchope, is going on leave this month and will not return to Palestine until after the Coronation; and if he will make arrangements to ensure that Palestine is not left without a High Commissioner at one of the most difficult and dangerous periods of the year?
1396W
§ Mr. Ormsby-GoreAt my request, the High Commissioner for Palestine has come to this country for a few weeks. There is no foundation for the suggestion that he will stay here until after the Coronation. I would add that I have full confidence in Mr. Hathorn Hall, who is administering the Government of Palestine in Sir Arthur Wauchope's absence.
