HC Deb 16 February 1937 vol 320 cc1021-2W
Mr. F. O. Roberts

asked the Minister of Pensions whether there has been any increase recently in the number of cases of ex-service men under treatment for loss of sight or other affection of the eyes said to be due to the effects of gas; and whether any steps are being taken to specially deal with such cases?

Mr. Ramsbotham

A few cases of the disease known as keratitis, which can in certain instances be ascribed to the effects of mustard gas, have occurred in recent years. Eight such cases were accepted for compensation by the Ministry last year. This was a rather higher number than in the previous year.
