asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the new silver coinage will be ready for distribution before the Coronation, as there will be a demand by many public bodies for distribution of this coinage in commemoration of His Majesty's Coronation?

I understand that, subject to the issue of the necessary proclamation, the Royal Mint will begin to strike some at least of the denominations of the new coinage immediately after Faster. Limited supplies should therefore be available before 12th May.
