HC Deb 05 February 1937 vol 319 cc1933-4W
Mr. Cassels

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he will state the total annual amount paid from all Government sources to the present Governor of Burma.

Mr. Butler

The Governor of Burma at present receives an annual salary of Rs.1,00,000, less the amount of his naval pension of 19s. 11'd. a day, which is paid from British revenues and is deducted in accordance with the terms of Section 85 (2) (b) of the Government of India Act. His present allowances are substantially the same as those to be paid to the Governor of Burma upon the separation of Burma from India, for particulars of which I would refer the hon. Member to the Government of Burma (Governor's Salary, Allowance and Privileges) Order, 1936.
