HC Deb 23 December 1937 vol 330 c2168W
Mr. Groves

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the London Insurance Committee recently adopted a regulation requiring all their temporary officials to undergo vaccination as a condition of employment; why this regulation is not to be applied to the permanent officials; and whether he will invite the London Insurance Committee, in view of recent deaths from encephalitis caused by vaccination, imposed as a condition of employment, to rescind their recent regulation?

Sir K. Wood

As regards the first and second parts of the question, I am informed that the London Insurance Committee recently decided that candidates for appointment to their staff, who are all permanent, subject to the usual probation, shall be required as a condition of their employment to be vaccinated if they have not already been vaccinated. I have no power to interfere with the committee's discretion in the matter.
