HC Deb 23 December 1937 vol 330 c2183W
Sir R. Gower

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he can give any estimate of the present amount of British capital invested in Danish securities?

Lieut.-Colonel Colville

No official estimate is available, but I am informed that Sir Robert Kindersley estimates British long-term investments in Denmark in 1936 at approximately £11 million nominal capital, divided as follows:

Capital. Income.
£000 £000
Government and Municipal 3,850 160
Quoted Commercial Investments 3,930 260
Other Investments 3,220 190
£11,000 £610

In addition to the above, British investments in Iceland in quoted securities are estimated at £1,240,000, from which an income of £60,000 was obtained in 1936.
