HC Deb 09 December 1937 vol 330 c577W
Mr. Petherick

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the mounting adverse trade balance with countries with which Great Britain has trade agreements, he will give notice of termination of such agreements in cases in which the original time limit has expired, with a view to making fresh ones more favourable to this country?

Mr. R. S. Hudson

No, Sir. The working of the trade agreements is constantly under review, but my right bon. Friend does not regard this increased adverse balance of visible trade as a sufficient reason in itself for action such as my hon. Friend suggests.
