HC Deb 09 December 1937 vol 330 c594W
Mr. Kirby

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he can make a statement as to the circumstances in which a Royal Air Force aeroplane crashed into a house in Liverpool, on Monday last, resulting in the death of the pilot and much damage to private property; and will he take steps to discourage military and civil pilots flying over the city to such an extent as they do at present?

Lieut.-Colonel Muirhead

The circumstances of the accident in question will be investigated by a Court of Inquiry and I cannot add anything at present to the statements which have appeared in the Press. Stringent orders are already in force with regard to flight over populated areas and my Noble Friend does not think that it is necessary to amend them, but the matter will be considered in conjunction with the finding of the Court of Inquiry.
