HC Deb 09 December 1937 vol 330 cc578-9W
Mr. Thorne

asked the Minister of Health what representations he has received from local authorities in connection with the property owners increasing their rents; if he is aware that in some cases the rents have been increased by 6s. per week in the Plaistow and Silvertown Parliamentary Divisions; and what action he intends taking in the matter?

Sir K. Wood

I have not myself received any representations from local authorities on this subject, but I understand that representations were made to the Departmental Committee on the Rent Restrictions Acts. The report of this committee has now been submited and will be published. The whole question of the future of rent control will be carefully considered in the light of the committee's recommendations.
