The average weekly cash earnings (excluding the value of allowances in kind) of wage-earners employed at coal mines in Great Britain was £2 5s. 6d. in 1935 and £2 10s. 6d. in 1936. The corresponding figures for Durham were £2, 0s. 9d. and £2 4s. 8d.
