HC Deb 02 December 1937 vol 329 c2278W
Mr. R. Duckworth

asked the Minister of Health how many automatic breathing apparatus known as iron lungs there are in this country; whether he is aware of any shortage; and whether he will stimulate their provision, either directly or indirectly?

Sir K. Wood

I have no means of knowing how many of these articles of surgical equipment there are in this country. I am advised that the occasions on which their use is required are rare. They can be obtained by purchase or on loan, and I have no information that there is any shortage.
